What is MASA?

Google MASA is an initiative launched by the multinational company itself that seeks to ensure the security of apps downloaded through the Play Store. To do so, developers wishing to join the project must submit their mobile applications to an external security assessment, carried out by authorised laboratories following OWASP’s methodological standards.

During the evaluation, the app is checked for compliance with the security requirements. In the event of non-compliance, the professionals provide the necessary solutions for the developer to solve the detected faults. Once all requirements are met, the Google MASA certification is issued. This badge appears in the Play Store, increasing the security guarantee and the confidence of users who download the apps.
